I am considering a Prelude. What did you drive before your Prelude?

Landcruiser....bucket list car. Didn't like it all that much, realized i like cars better. I used to ride motorcycles for my sports infusion, so didn't mind driving a giant box. But, i gave that up a year ago, so like having something sporty to drive again.

Also considered civic R/integra S, but i realized i don't care for stick-shift anymore. Nissan Z, Mustang, Supra. All got thumbs down from my other half. And the left field entry, 2nd gen NSX base...the boss was not having it due to $$$, even though they're kind of a bargain right now. Prelude won amongst all those. Im gonna sneak that nsx in eventually, somehow!

And, because i have soft spot for Hondas', had a Ridgeline before the LC, wich i loved. It drove like a big accord. Stick-shift Tacoma before that, when I still liked it.

I watched a Chemical Guys video last night, where they detailed an Acura (Honda) NSX. I was struck by the similarity in profile to the Prelude; in fact, I think the Prelude is almost a baby NSX, lol.

So there is one car listed on this thread that is the worst car I ever drove! I rented one in Canada for a week and it was terrible. It broke the record for ‘worst car I ever drove’ that was held for more than thirty years by a Fiat Tipo.
I have, at least, managed to restrain myself from identifying it!

Before my Prelude I drove a Volvo C70 T5 auto for 13 years.

Prior to my Prelude I drove a Mazda 3 hatchback; drove well but got no thrill from driving it. Two of my previous cars (photos attached): Peugeot RCZ - loved it! In fact so much that after 6 years I traded it in and bought another before they stopped manufacturing them. A while before this I had a Mazda RX8. Again, loved the car, but traded it in after 3 years as it was too expensive to run.
The Prelude (my only car so has to do everything I need) fits all my current criteria - fabulous to look at (I get a buzz looking at it let alone driving it!), great to drive - either cruising or somewhere you can make use of S+, decent boot space, front wheel drive (I could never get my RX8 out of the village when it snowed!), great fuel economy and the most comfortable car I have ever sat it. Don't need the back seats so no issue there, and not bothered about sports performance. The Prelude is a win win for me!

Always hankered after an RCZ-R, bought the more sensible 308GTI with the same engine, my god that was a real rocketship 1.6 engine 276hp!

All my previous cars have been Alfa Romeo's. We ended up switching from our 2nd Stelvio to a Civic last year, and from the Giulietta for the Prelude this year.
When we were looking to downsize from the Stelvio tried a lot of different makes and almost gave up, as nothing came close in terms of driver engagement, handling and looks. By chance tried the Civic which I thought was as good as many of the Alfa's I have owned over the past 20+ years. The Prelude was a 'no option' to not buy once I had taken a test drive!

I had the Civic before buying the Prelude I loved the way it drove and the economy, and when I saw the Prelude and knew it would be a similar driving experience so it was a no brainer to swap, so far I like the fact it already feels familiar, the difference is when I park up I now look back at the Prelude as it's such a nice looking car, less practical admittedly, but no one ever sat in the back of the Civic in the near 3 years I had it.

I've had my Prelude since March of this year and personally I think it's brilliant, fun, agile and entertaining to drive especially on back roads that have decent corners because you can point the Prelude with its Type R running gear into the apex and it follows it like a cat chasing a mouse. The S+Shift technology give you a spirited and engaging drive through the bends. As you probably know there are different driving modes 1) Comfort, 2) GT and 3) Sport and 4) Individual which basically is a mix and match of the other three. Each one affects the power train, steering, suspension and engine sound and the driver immediately notices these changes.

I didn't consider any other car and so to get an early delivery I bought it 'blind'! No regrets, I'm 6'1" and there's plenty of room. It may be considered as a 2+2 sporting coupe but the rear seat could accommodate a dog not 2 people well at least not for any length of time.

Having covered 1,200 miles the car is returning 62 MPG (that's British gallons that I believe is slightly larger than US gallons) so it's not expensive to run or insure.

Previous cars include MG A, Austin Healey 100/4, Austin Healey 3000 Mk3, MGB GT, Lotus Super7, BMW Z3, BMW Z4, Audi Sq5, Audi e-tron GT.

I sold the e-tron after a year and I'll never have another electric car! Sure it was fast and handled well BUT advertised range was between 240 and 250 miles but in the real world that dropped to around 210-220 and in the winter with lights, heater, wipers etc the range plummeted to 180 or less. Although charging at home was OK public charging was a nightmare. There was often at least one car in front of you which meant waiting for at least 15 minutes on top of the 25 minutes it took to charge mine.

So my main reason for buying the Prelude - it's a self charging hybrid (not plug-in) and you can fill up with petrol in 3 or 4 minutes and it's not an SUV which seems to be what many are buying here (UK)

The handling of the Integra was disappointing. I drove an old Integra that my brother had years ago and it handled better than the new Integra. The 5th Gen Prelude is my all time favorite design aesthetically.

I went to buy the new Forester and thought that it looked ho-hum and like every other car on the road in Australia, where everyone drives either an SUV or a 4WD. I then saw the Subaru BRZ and thought, that would be Controversial. I don’t have kids, no longer have horses, and now only ever carry shopping or my toy poodles. I then noticed the Prelude. I had no idea they were even coming out. I have a huge soft spot for Hondas from 30-40 years ago. My Dad (who died 32 years ago) was a massive fan. We only ever had Hondas. My first car in 1985 was a 1980 Honda Civic. My dad’s car when he died was a 1992 2nd gen Legend. But before that he had a Prelude. I was sold the second I saw the new Prelude. I love that it’s an automatic Hybrid. I love that it drives so beautifully and I love that it’s the perfect size for me. It also looks great, and like nothing else on the road. I’ve only had mine for 4 weeks and have done 4000km. Driving back and forth to the beach! I still haven’t seen another. I chose white and I think I made the right decision.

Welcome aboard!. We have both a Prelude (my wife's beauty) and a BRZ (my beast). They are two very different breeds of cat. The Prelude is one of the best all-around GT's that I have ever driven. It strikes the perfect balance of performance, comfort and sheer joy of being behind the wheel. It also attracts more attention and comments than any car I have ever driven. The BRZ is simply a snarling little beast. It is usable as a daily driver If you live in the right climate I suppose, but it just begs to be driven fast through the twisties. It is a true Stomp and Steer sports car in every sense of the word and it is the most fun a man can have with his pants on. That being said, if you run over a dime in a BRZ you know whether you hit it on heads or tails. The BRZ is also like a Lego. When it comes to mods the sky is the limit.

I also have a 2022 Outback for the things you need an Outback for. It is a great car and a dream on road trips. It handles all kinds of weather with aplomb and can carry all of the luggage that we need to take with us on vacations.
