I am considering a Prelude. What did you drive before your Prelude?

Landcruiser....bucket list car. Didn't like it all that much, realized i like cars better. I used to ride motorcycles for my sports infusion, so didn't mind driving a giant box. But, i gave that up a year ago, so like having something sporty to drive again.

Also considered civic R/integra S, but i realized i don't care for stick-shift anymore. Nissan Z, Mustang, Supra. All got thumbs down from my other half. And the left field entry, 2nd gen NSX base...the boss was not having it due to $$$, even though they're kind of a bargain right now. Prelude won amongst all those. Im gonna sneak that nsx in eventually, somehow!

And, because i have soft spot for Hondas', had a Ridgeline before the LC, wich i loved. It drove like a big accord. Stick-shift Tacoma before that, when I still liked it.

I had a BMW M240I convertible. Such a great and fast car. Got it new and gave it 7 years later to the Honda dealer in exchange for the Prelude.
Maintenance fees were getting very expensive, as for the gas, 3 times more than what the Prelude is using worst it had to be super instead or regular... So gas with the Prelude cost me a 1/4 of what it use to.
So no regrets except for the feeling of a convertible in summer and a few full accelerations...

The M24i is a great car... under warranty.lol. Even better as a convertible. Convertibles are fun. I miss my old Miata every time I see one on the road.

I did not realize the Prelude uses regular gas. The mpg of the Prelude is nice. Using regular gas makes it even nicer with gas prices today. Most fun driving cars require premium gas. The only other “fun” car I can think of that uses regular gas is the VW GTI. I assume the Civic Hybrid also uses regular gas?

Been driving Lexus hybrids for the last 8 years, last was an ES 300h. Great car, super comfortable and excellent fuel efficiency, but I almost never needed all the space it offered, plus: I lusted for something smaller, more sporty. Sadly, Lexus do not offer any hybrid coupes any more, so I was very happy to learn about the Prelude coming back - as a hybrid!
(Yes, you read that right: I bought my Prelude not despite it being a hybrid, but because of it being a hybrid.)

We both agree that the Prelude is a great car and tons of fun in the twisties.

I loved my BRZ. How do you like the Prelude compared to your BRZ? How is the Prelude handling, chassis balance, steering feel, braking, power compared to the BRZ? Is the Prelude quieter than the BRZ? How about space between the BRZ and Prelude?

The Z is a super bargain because they can be bought for a nice discount. The base Z msrp is about the same as the Prelude.

Gas prices here in the States are at record highs due to issues in the Middle East. It always nice to save money at the gas pumps. I assume the Prelude’s great mpg might be a factor in the buying decision.

I noticed a few of you live in the EU and UK. Gas prices in the EU and UK are usually much higher than the US. Are gas prices more expensive than normal today with the issues in the Middle East? How much of factor was mpg when you decided on a Prelude?

Same question for our Canadian brothers and sisters up north?

Gas prices are pretty high right now at $1.88/liter so about $7.00/per US gallon... (in cad)
The mpg cost was one of factor for me, not the main one but probably in the top 4.

That is about $5.00 usd a gallon. $5/gal is about what it cost for regular gas in larger US cities in expensive areas. I have seen as high as $7.80/gal for premium lately in some areas. 4-5 months ago regular gas was closer to $3.50/gal and premium was about $4.25/gal.

Everything about the Prelude is better. Not a little better. A lot better.

I had a Audi TT roadster. It was a great car that I had for 9 years. I live in a rural community and it was along way to the Audi Dealer. I didn't mind driving the 4 hours, but I am getting older and the expense of spending the night in a hotel as well as the Audi service costs being high. I think the new Prelude will work for me.

The BRZ is a true stomp and steer sports car. The Prelude is a GT. It is quieter, more comfortable and has more space. The Prelude is an absolute joy to drive on the highway and in the twisties. At Summit Point the BRZ will lap a Prelude in three laps. On the Tail of the Dragon you will probably enjoy a Prelude just as much as a BRZ.

The BRZ is a snarling pure sports car. It is loud and unruly. If you run over a dime in a BRZ you can tell if it was heads or tails. It is also the most fun you can have with your pants on. The Prelude is elegant performance.

I loved my old BRZ. I only sold it for a Miata because I wanted a convertible. The Miata was great fun also.

I love the Robbinsville area and the Tail. I have been there a few times in my old BRZ. I do not own a current BRZ but have driven a friend’s enough to know I like it. I actually prefer firmer suspension. Is the Prelude still softer than the BRZ in the stiffest suspension setting?

Yes. The Prelude is also significantly larger and heavier.

No surprise at all. Style DNA is quite similar, but all tech specs have been brought up to todays standards. What's not to like?
