Which tires did your Prelude come with? All season or optional summer performance tires?

All season - Goodyear Eagle Touring. Bought from dealer close to a ski area (in California); I live in an area close to a ski area (in Oregon). In my search, I never even considered the tires; thankfully, luckily I got what I needed.

Continental Premium Contact summer tires. I asked for all seasons (which I will buy during the coming months), but they would have cost me around €700 extra. 👎🏻

Here in the U.S. all-seasons are standard equipment and the summer high performance tires are a $1200 dealer installed option. I think it is crazy Honda charges $1200 extra because you loose the all-seasons and get charged the extra money. For $1200 you can keep the all-seasons tires and buy an additional set of summer high performance tires of your own choice.

Don't you get the 'fancier' rims too? (Not that they are worth $1,200 even if each 'fancy rim' is $500).

I am not sure? I just read articles from the 3-4 major U.S. car magazines. They did not mention different wheels. I don’t think they did anyways?

I also would not say the optional wheels are fancier. Are the optional wheels forged or lighter? Aesthetically I prefer the stock black wheels.

Given the vastly different climate zones involved, the US/Canadian Prelude naturally comes with all-season tires as standard. In Europe—and Germany in particular—such tires are generally frowned upon; drivers there typically use either summer tires or dedicated winter tires. The Continental PremiumContact fitted to our model is an excellent tire that balances comfort with sporty performance. Continental evidently won the internal bidding war against Michelin (the original equipment supplier for the latest Type R FL5) quite convincingly.

Tires and tread compounds can make all the difference in the world for handling.
