So at first glance, it appears there are gonna be a lot of disappointed folks who were waiting for more horsepower and a 3rd pedal...I couldn't see any differences in the model years, other than the base MSRP went up some...

How many people actually thought there would be a manual option? I never thought that was realistic.

It looks like it's pretty much the same car. No new colors or different style wheels either. Not to say that is bad because I like the black wheels.

Honda has already said there would NOT be an upgraded one, so I don’t know why people still believe there would/will be..

So no changes then. The latest Civic has hardly changed from the one I had in 2023, with just a small revision to the front end. I can't see any changes to the Prelude for a while yet.

And as they have discontinued the CTR in a lot of markets, that engine option isn't happening either.

That reference to the model year is surely just down to regulations; yes, the models built in summer or late summer for sale in the autumn are designated as the 2027 model year, but obviously, there are no actual changes to the vehicle itself. I think production in Japan is well-calibrated—mine rolled off the assembly line there on January 13, 2026—and it would be interesting to know, for instance, if the batch from those winter months has already sold out. I don't expect a facelift with minor visual tweaks until the 2029 model year.

Maybe people were hoping for a CTR drivetrain option? A parts bin car. Probably very unlikely though. That would probably not work since the CTR has already been removed from some markets for emissions. I think I read the Prelude was identical for every market.

People need to stop fantasising about a different drivetrain in the Prelude. It's not happening. Not the type R setup, not the civic facelift setup, not a magical manual, nothing. They don't physically fit and/or it's not worth it for Honda. It is not going to happen.

I'm really interested in the power bump the 2.0 Hybrid power plant is going to get and how a near perfect interior layout is going to change. We should know some details soon since I belive the new Civic should debut in 27 sometime.

I'll be surprised if it gets apower bump. Best I can tell is it's a rework of the chassis to allow the parallel setup to fit plus some other little bits to make the drivetrain more compact and light resulting in efficiency gains but not power.

This tells me Prelude is a 2 year car for this generation unless it's updated. The info I have read is the new Civic platform will be almost 200 lbs lighter and chassis rigidity greater

Everything I've read suggests no notable change in power output. The larger vehicles will get an acceleration bump due to some getting eAWD, but as far as I understand it the 2027 Civic will just have a shrunken version of the parallel setup and modified suspension setup to accommodate, alongside the weight drop. It's not even getting the two lockup clutches of the standard parallel configuration. The new electronics and reworked ICE engine may improve the power curve at least, so combined with the dropped weight it'll almost certainly be quicker in a straight line but how that translates beyond that nobody knows. All I know for absolute certain is it's not coming to the Prelude in the form of a facelift, if ever. It'd have to be a new generation entirely due to the engine not physically fitting in the engine bay and the battery packaging changing.

Not a cat in hell's chance of that. The CTR is discontinued in a lot of markets; the Prelude is a low-volume seller. Why on earth would they make it for such a limited market?
