Speed Volume compensation not working?

Is anyone else noticing that the speed volume compensation is not working on their Prelude? I spent the last decade driving an Accord hybrid sedan that had it (set to "medium") and never had to increase the volume manually, but even with it set on "high" in my Prelude, at higher speeds with extra road/wind noise, I end up turning the volume up manually. The Accord cabin seemed quieter than the Prelude's, but I would have thought that setting it in high would compensate for that. I'm not even sure how to tell whether it's working at all... or if it just doesn't increase the volume enough.

Yes - I have experienced the same problem.
Dealer told me it works in Sports mode with S+ switch on, but I found it doesn't. It works perfectly in all drive modes in my 11 Gen Civic which also has the BOSE audio. Obviously something wrong with the function in the Prelude.

I agree: either it's not working, or the effect is subtle enough to be imperceptable!

I don’t know whether to feel better knowing it isn’t just me or to be concerned that it doesn’t seem to be working for others as well. I will ask the dealer’s service people about it when I take it in for the first oil change, but since I bought the first (and only one, so far) that my dealer has received, they haven’t worked on any yet.

not sure if there's been a software update, but I can now tell a difference in the volume level while driving (there's a setting for low med high in the menu)

It definitely works in my Civic. I pick up the Prelude on Tuesday and will report back whether there has indeed been a software update.

I tried checking it with music from various sources music on my iPhone, the car’s FM radio, Sirius/XM (through my phone), and the source of music seems irrelevant. it It also does not seem to matter whether S+ is turned on (as someone else mentioned) or not. I noticed this morning that there IS, however, a software update available and it is for the audio system! It only does the upload when the car power is off, so I will check tomorrow to confirm that the update completed and see if there has been a fix for this.

I took my car to the dealer last week to have this checked. Unfortunately they somehow totally mis-understood the problem. They told me everything works as it should and changed my 'engine sound' to 'Sport' in the individual drive mode setting. Having re-explained what the problem was I have been invited back to take the technician on a test drive and demonstrate the problem.

connect the car to Wifi network or phone hotspot and check if any 'system updates' are available. If yes then they are downloaded via the network connection and then installed. Similar to updating the native navigation maps wirelessly

It says my update completed successfully, and I didn't really notice any difference just around town, but I haven't been out on the highway yet and that's where I really noticed the *lack* of volume increase previously. I tapped my screen too quickly when it indicated that it had completed, so I'm hoping there's some way to go back in and find out what all was supposed to be in this update.... unfortunately, I was in a bit of a hurry today.

Will be interested to hear if others have found any difference after allowing the audio software update to complete

Correct. I got my car back in February but only have about 2000 miles on it and had not been noticing any change in the audio levels (even when on the highway) despite having my menu option set to "high". I allowed it to do the software update yesterday, but I have not yet been back on the highway, which is where the lack of increase in audio sound is most noticeable.

I was hoping that because I just got mine, it would have been updated, but no, I went on the motorway for my first proper outing since I picked it up yesterday and even though, like you, I went in and set it to high it did not compensate and I ended up manualy turning it up I will set up the car with my wi fi password and try to see if it will update, I'm not confident.

I had the chance to test the audio update taking the car on the highway yesterday. NO change. I don’t know what the specific audio updates were (I accidentally hit the continue button instead of looking at whatever information was available on the screen), but the update did not fix this. Anyone know the best way to let Honda know that this needs fixed? I haven’t got enough miles on my car yet for the first oil change, but will obviously mention it when I do take it in for that. It is just annoying to not have it do something it is supposed to do (and something that I routinely need it to do).

I know it's easy to turn up the volume to compensate yourself, but as you say, that's not the point.
