Is this Prelude going to be on a limited run or will Honda keep in its lineup for long term? Given the new generation Civic is going to be released sometime in 27, will the Prelude have a limited run or will they possibly update it and keep it going? The new Civic will have a new body structure along with a revised and more powerful Hybrid engine. I have heard the 1.5 is dead.

I think someone on this forum commented on the new Civic powertrain not fitting into the Prelude. So no updated powertrain for the current Prelude if that information is correct. The new Civic is supposed to have a stiffer and lighter chassis with more use of aluminum. I wonder if the new Civic body structure will use any of the Civic Type R suspension and chassis geometry. The new Civic is supposed to have a Motion Management System and enhanced agile Handling Assist technology. Maybe the Prelude gets something like that? The new Civic will have the S+ Shift technology.

In Europe, the S+ Shift button has already been included in the current facelift of the 11th-generation Civic.

There are reports of Prelude sales slowing in Japan which prompt Honda to announce a limited edition to generate more interest. No limited edition for North America so that probably means NA sales are doing well.

I think Honda will have to improve the power if there is a next generation Prelude. Toyota is planning on bring back the Celica with at least 300hp. The new Civic with improved power plant, efficiency, suspension technology, is a natural option for a next generation Prelude. It is impressive Honda can trim almost 190 pounds from the next generation Civic’s chassis and make it stiffer and more responsive. The new Civic might present an interesting marketing dilemma.

The Prelude will have only minor changes, if any, for the next 3 years. A niche product is not going to garner Honda resources especially when: Honda is battling other manufacturers on their main product lines (Accord, Civic, CRV); trying to resurrect Acura; and struggling to recover financially from the EV fiasco.

Simple stated, Prelude development is done. It is what it is. Essentially, take it or leave it.

I’ve got mine; it is perfect as is.

People did all sorts of ‘if only talk’ for Honda’s last niche product, the CR-Z. Nothing significant happened over 8 years.

Dear "rexracer" – it would be nice if you’d finally just buy the Prelude instead of constantly digging up justifications for not doing so—like claiming "Honda is just about to finally install a 6-speed manual and 3,465 hp in the Prelude." That kind of talk is so "October 2025."

I'm a bit of the same mind as some of the others. It's time to 'shit or get off the pot' -- It's been a good mix of negative (and sometimes positive) stuff. But, the web is awash with all the negativity. We want this place to feel like a welcome home to the owners. That's not to mean that we won't discuss problems and such, but it seems like that is your focus, over and over.

Let's keep that in mind and move forward in a positive manner from now on.

Very true. Just read Honda has farmed out the next platform design for the new Civic, Accord to Tata Tech group of India in order to cut cost.

That's not at all what they've said. They've started a development partnership to build an entirely new separate platform, likely absolutely nothing to do with the Civic or Accord. If anything it'll be for the next gen Honda Elevate and other related emerging market cars. You'll probably never see any of the resulting models in Europe or the US.
