Does the Prelude use the same problematic LF engine that has bad head gaskets?

This kind of stuff drives me crazy. There are plenty of more serious things to worry about.
For example: The KFC chicken conspiracy.

After the Bay of Pigs debacle the CIA put together a plan to assassinate Fidel Castro. This plan involved both CIA operatives and members of organized crime. What transpired boggles the mind.

It was well known that Castro had an affinity for both cigars and for fried chicken. The CIA saw this as an opportunity to hit Castro where he was most vulnerable. So, with the help of Philip “Chicken Man” Testa the CIA set up a program to venomize the common chicken and to make it attracted to cigar smoke. This was done at an isolated farm in upstate New York. The venomous chickens were then dropped by glider into Castro’s compound in Havana.

The CIA did not take into account the fact that chickens cannot fly and most of them died upon impact. The few remaining injured birds were captured by the Cuban communists. They were then smuggled back into the United States and tossed over the fence of the White House where they stalked and killed JFK (who also loved to smoke cigars). Unfortunately, some of these chickens escaped into the wild and began interbreeding with the native chicken population.

The CIA would not have been able to survive the resulting scandal so the only way to mitigate the risk was to frame Lee Harvey Oswald and replace the biological chicken population with synthetic chickens. This synthetic chicken development was done at a place called Area 51. This project is known as the Kennedy Fiasco Cover-up (KFC).

It was a huge effort to replace the biological chicken population with synthetic chickens and the only organization up to the task was, of course, the Teamsters (under the management of one James Hoffa). The task was accomplished without being noticed because NASA distracted everyone with the fake moon landing.

The trail went cold when everyone associated with the project died under mysterious circumstances.

Just sayin'.

FWIW the only nation that now has biological chickens is North Korea.;)

@rexracer - God almighty. Let it go! Contemplate your navel... get a hobby... watch more porn... anything... but please stop this crap.

I gotta ignore this OCD fool for my own mental health.
Yet you still keep reading and replying to the post. Ignore if you don't like it . Maybe you should get banned for calling someone a fool for not liking a post that did not insult anyone.

All you have to do is ignore and not read or reply to the post.

How many threads are you going to start on this ‘issue’? Just give us a number so we can estimate when you will be done.
It’s easy...Don’t read or reply to my post if you don’t like the topic.

Guys, please keep this place friendly. We are a small community already. If you don't want to see what someone has to say add them to your ignore list. Please don't make me have to start moderating.

No, it’s not that simple—I was actually wondering why you’re making such a fuss here, starting three or four threads on the exact same topic and basically just stirring up panic.

I wrongly assumed he owned one with the number of posts he puts out. I was surprised to find he was only thinking of buying one and is now rethinking it due to the possible head gasket issues.
You don’t think potential Prelude buyers should be concerned if Honda has a problem with engines that are shared with the Prelude?

People come to this site to learn about the Prelude. Both as owners and potential owners. They want to gather information about the Prelude, good or bad. I think knowing is better than sticking your head in the sand. I apologize if you feel I am stirring up panic. I am not. Surprisingly I like the Prelude and would or would not buy one once there is clarification about the engine. I have stated in other post, I hope the problem is not a widespread issue. I wonder if the problems are isolated to certain VIN’s, plants of production, parts vendors, parts numbers. I hope the issue is isolated to parts, part numbers, manufacturing plant or VINs. I hope the Prelude is immune from the issue. I think it is reasonable to want to know these things. I think any potential Prelude owner would want clarification on this before buying one. I also would think current owners would want to know.

Please just keep the discussion/posts on the ‘issue’ to one thread.

But it is up to you. As the moderator said, you can be ‘ignored’; but nobody wants to do that.

You are evidently very concerned and anxious about potential problems with the new Prelude even though you do not own one, and have no evidence of engine failure in these cars. But the growing number of owners on the forum appear to be very happy indeed with their cars, have also reported no issues, and broadly seem not to share your level of concern and anxiety about future reliability.

At best, a car forum is a place for like-minded people to chat, enthuse, learn, laugh, and to help each other where we can. But I'm not sure that this little forum (increasingly populated by actual owners) is going to be able to deliver the clarification and certainty that you are seeking.

Maybe it's time to move on and to find yourself a car that you can have a bit more faith in?

Maybe he was listening to the early 90s hard rock classic "Once Is Not Enough" by the Canadian band "Von Groove"? Shout-out to Canada—underrated band. :) To the moderator/admin here: why not merge everything into one thread?

Certainly, but I seriously doubt it will turn out to be anything more than a tiny percentage of cars affected. Some HRV owners have racked up huge mileage with no problems at all, so it's not inevitable that there will be problems with the Prelude.

Easy fix, just drive everywhere in S+. No more random heat cycles, and it goes vroom vroom.
That's exactly what I've been doing too. I've also been keeping a careful record of all the head gaskets I've had to replace.

The total so far is zero - but maybe I've just been insanely lucky...? 🤞🏻

Years ago I had an Italian friend who always complained that cars have far too many unnecessary switches, levers, pedals and other controls, claiming... "I have driven many thousands of kilometres using only the accelerator and the klaxon..."

That's good. Anyone who wants to talk about this will now be able to chat amongst themself in their own special thread...
And those who don’t want any part of this thread should move on….

I’ve been using OBDlink MX+ and the OBDlink app to track thermal cycling, the car stays super stable from what I can tell based on coolant temp sensors. I do a good amount of highway driving but the engine is still on only 30-50% of the time. It’s the middle of summer so maybe the thermal cycling is worse in harsh winter environments?
