Mirrors

Does the passenger mirror lower in the US version when parking reverse to see the curb?

No. At least not in Canada...

Nor here in England, it's something I really liked on my Mazda 3, especially living in a really narrow street, but it only takes a few seconds to adjust on the Prelude, so it's no big deal.

...you'r right, just a few seconds...adjust, re-adjust....not a BIG deal .... but my Q6o , Mazda 3 had that ...it's no extra cost...just software, and it takes "someone" in the dev department to think a bit of the daily practise ... for me it's those small, simple things that make the difference between a smile and a "grrrr" in daily usage...
my last Honda was an Accord around 15 yrs ago, can't remember such "issues" with that one ...or the Preludes i had before the Accord.... or i've just become more petty ;)

It's a bit more than software unfortunately. The mirrors in the Prelude are basic dumb motors with no knowledge of their position, so they can't reliably return to a set position.

...don't think that an absolute mirror position would be required for daily use ....once the selected set postion would no longer be acceptable, the user could re-adjust ....i assume this would not happen too often.
Not aware of the old mazda 3 mirror construction, but i'm pretty sure they did not have a position sensor 10 years ago .... and ...returning manually to the last set position with the buttons is also not tooo precise...
