Hi, on YouTube and on other pics, I often see what seem to be sensors in the inner A-Pillars. My 'lude doesn't have these, any infos about it? Thanks.

None in Canada...

My (UK) Prelude has this too.

Honda’s basic Driver Attention Monitor system has been around for some years - my 2019 CR-V has it. It works by monitoring your steering movements: research has shown that tired drivers (as well as distracted, drunk or drugged ones) typically make fewer but larger steering corrections to keep the car in its lane. Alert drivers make more frequent but much smaller corrections. The system also looks out for repeated lane departures or a lack of steering input from the driver.

The new Advanced Driver Attention Monitor on the UK Prelude (maybe other Honda models/territories too?) adds to this with an infra-red camera in the ‘A’ pillar on the driver’s side. It monitors your blink rate as well as detecting if your head is tipping forwards or sideways – or if you’re simply not looking ahead for an extended period.

It uses all of this data to determine your attention level and issues visual and audible warnings as necessary. At very low speeds the system is deactivated and you can turn the whole thing on or off in the setup menus.

Interesting that the US/Canada Prelude doesn’t seem to have the infra-red camera system. I wonder if it just has the more basic ‘steering movement’ monitor? Perhaps a North American owner could check in their manual!

not in Australia either (and I'm not sorry we've missed-out on it!)

Yes, the U.S. models don't have the cabin camera so it relies solely on steering input. Although I get really annoyed by people looking at their phones for an extended period of time while they're driving (or doing other things), I'm definitely glad that they didn't add the pillar camera to the U.S. models!
