When I was going to buy the car, I expected it to have Google Maps and Assistant; they appear to have it in other markets. Then, when I picked it up I found it had the same sat nav as my Civic and also no Google Assistant. Why do UK-spec cars not get Google?

I'd be surprised if the infotainment system would not be the exact same world wide. As far as I know, it is always based on Google services, although that fact is not named explicitely anywhere on the screen or within the system. Mine does not call the satellite navigation "Google Maps", either, it is just called "Navigation", but it runs on the same maps Google Maps uses. At least that is what I understand.

The Android Automotive/Google based system is only really in the Americas. Most of the rest of the world has the last generation Honda CONNECT system. Likely down to higher costs for the connectivity and additional regulation sign-off they can't be bothered to get. It's not a case of branding or anything like that, they're fundamentally different systems.

Thanks for the info, didn't know that.
