Speed Volume compensation not working?

I had the chance to test the audio update taking the car on the highway yesterday. NO change. I don’t know what the specific audio updates were (I accidentally hit the continue button instead of looking at whatever information was available on the screen), but the update did not fix this. Anyone know the best way to let Honda know that this needs fixed? I haven’t got enough miles on my car yet for the first oil change, but will obviously mention it when I do take it in for that. It is just annoying to not have it do something it is supposed to do (and something that I routinely need it to do).

I'll do a check again today while I'm out for a drive..stay tuned!

So I did a quick test with mine the other day....I was on the highway at 70mph, with the radio volume set on 11, (I was streaming music via Android Auto), and the music was plenty loud..

When I slowed to take an offramp down to about 35 or 40, I definitely heard the radio go down about 1/3rd in volume.. However the volume control was still set on 11 when I checked at the stop light.

So I just realized now I said I was "streaming" the music, and not listening to the FM radio....I wonder if that would make a difference???

Can confirm SVC does not work streaming wireless CarPlay. Haven’t tried any other audio source.

When I slowed to take an offramp down to about 35 or 40, I definitely heard the radio go down about 1/3rd in volume.. However the volume control was still set on 11 when I checked at the stop light.

So I just realized now I said I was "streaming" the music, and not listening to the FM radio....I wonder if that would make a difference???

Interesting - did the volume of the audio increase as you accelerated to 70mph?

The issue prevails irrespective of the audio source.

My dealership tested their Prelude demo last week at a few different speeds and volume settings. They acknowledge it doesn't work as intended. Waiting for them to do the same test in a Civic and then inform what the next steps are w.r.t. to pursuing a fix

And to your other inquiry about acceleration up to 70, I frankly did not think about the sound issue until I was exiting the freeway . Stay tuned!

Checked mine today on the highway. It does work, even when not set on max, but the effect is not as strong as I know it from other cars/brands. Set to max it definitively turns the volume up at highway speed, although not too much.

It definitely worked in my 2023 Civic; it does not work in my Prelude, even after I selected it and set it to high.

Very strange that it worked perfectly on my 2023 Civic and with what appears to be the same set-up, it doesn't work on the Prelude.

Does the Prelude have (ANC)Active Noise Cancelling? Might that have something to do with it if it does?

It doesn’t for me. No matter what the audio source, I have to turn the volume up on the highway.

So I did pay attention yesterday doing some in town driving up to 50mph...from a stop with the volume on 7, and then accelerating, when nearing 45 to 50 I do hear, a albeit slight, raise in volume...then out to the highway to 70 it got a teensy weensy bit louder. Coming off the ramp back under 45 I definetly heard it softening slightly.

It's so subtle on mine, it's like it's not even working...really not noticable (like if I had it on the quietest of the 3 auto volume settings, even though I was on loudest).
I hope Honda realizes they have a problem here and can fix it with an over the air software upgrade.

Sure, its absence is worth mentioning—but you’re displaying a level of intensity as if you were forced to drive around with the headliner sagging down on your heads.

It's mildly irritating, not a game changer, but would be better if it did work, especially as it's a listed feature which is supposed to enhance your experience of listening to music or podcasts whilst driving.

This 100%. Is it a dealbreaker that ruins my experience of driving the vehicle and makes me regret my purchase? Absolutely not. Is it something that I paid for and should work as advertised? Yes.

More than 70% of my journeys are on the motorway and with the congestions we have in the UK I think it must have been in the 90's when I last joined a motorway and was able to drive consistently at 70/75 mph with the same volume setting, before exiting the motorway, . Unfortunately my wife's tolerance for loud music isn't close to mine. The SVC fixes the constant battle we used have in previous cars about the volume setting being too low or loud depending on the speed.

A partial update on my previous post. The dealer took out the Civic and noticed the difference compared to the Prelude. They will re-test the Prelude and then inform me of next steps. Will update when I have more to share

In the Civic, you have to specifically select the Bose system via Centerpoint, and there’s also a way to control or adjust the subwoofer. I’m not exactly thrilled with the audio quality; it’s okay, but it doesn't really sound any different from the standard system in the FK8 CTR. Are there actually differences? Is the Bose system in the Prelude not tuned as well as the one in the Civic's top trim level? What equalizer settings are you guys using?

I stream my music from Qobuz via Apple CarPlay and find the quality superb.
I've not changed any of the Bose audio settings and out of the box it sounds great to me.
The bass extension is amazing and sound quality overall better than other (admittedly older) Hondas I've driven in the past. I'm very happy as is.
