Have you checked your order status today? If so, it means your car was indeed on board the BRANDS HATCH ship that arrived yesterday, July 21st, in Bristol/Portbury, and which just departed today for Zeebrugge, where mine will be unloaded. My blue Prelude could therefore also be on board!

Yup mine swapped from "shipped" to "in country" overnight. So if yours was on that boat it should have done the same?

Edit: Misread didn't realise yours will be going through Zeebrugge, seems hopeful though. When did you put your order in?

These cars are produced before customer orders.
They are shipped on the first available vessels.
They serve as buffer stock to reduce UK delivery times.

Your Racing Blue that just arrived in the UK was a Honda UK pre-order, but not a car produced specifically for your order.
It was already in production before you ordered it at the end of May.
It was ready for shipment from Yokohama at the beginning of June when the ship left Japan.

Honda Europe does not take pre-orders. They do not maintain buffer stock.
They only order cars that have already been sold.
They do not take cars "in advance" to reduce delivery times.
Therefore, my Racing Blue, ordered at the end of February, follows a "customer -> production -> shipping cycle",
and not a "pre-order -> stock -> allocation" cycle.

Well it still beats the last new car I bought, took a whole 12 months to come through. I had assumed that they were just preordering batches in the UK, just hadn't realised how much of a lag a more direct order would have these days. Is most of that just the raw shipping time? What's the hold up?

Here is the timeline according to Copilot, Microsoft’s AI.

1. Factory allocation: Honda Japan reserves a production slot for the order. Around 15 days.
2. Pre-production (Scheduled): The vehicle is scheduled but has not yet physically entered production. Approximately one and a half month.
3. Start of production (In Production): The chassis enters the production line. Two to three weeks.
4. Final assembly + quality control (Production Completed): The vehicle is assembled into a complete unit. One to two weeks.
5. Awaiting shipment: The vehicle is waiting for the next vessel. One to three weeks.
6. Sea transport Japan to Europe (Shipped): Voyage via the Cape of Good Hope. 45 to 50 days.
7. Arrival in Europe + Customs (Arrived at port and Customs clearance): Unloading, inspection, documentation. One to two weeks.

Well, what a surprise I got this morning when the garage phoned me to tell me to check my email to see what turned up on the transporter today. The Honda delivery eta software they use for the garage still said late August but it turned out it was on an earlier ship. Now getting it next Tuesday morning and then up into the Yorkshire dales on Wednesday. Wow, it is all getting very real now and can't wait.

Now getting it next Tuesday morning and then up into the Yorkshire dales on Wednesday. Wow, it is all getting very real now and can't wait.
