Delivery date, finally!

I have now had a delivery date for my new Prelude, end of August, so I have told them I will wait until September 1st for the 76 plate, considering they promised me July 22nd, that's quite the delay, I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

mine has gone back from 3rd Aug to 18th Aug. I am not sure whether to tell them to hold it till 1st but that may then mean that my trade in - Yaris cross is then revalued.
Ours may be coming on the same ship.

Because they said it would be July 22nd, the dealer has said my PX price will be honoured, so I get a 76 plate, which is a bit of compensation for the long wait. And I'm pretty sure they are on the same ship, which will be coming to Portbury, just down the road from where I live. If I were you, I would also wait until the 1st Sep.

Twice a year on the first of March and the first of September they change the number on your reg plate on the front and back of the car so this year on 1st March the number was 26 ie WA26 YXD and on the 1st September it will be 76 a typical plate would say WA76 YXD which basically means when you come to sell the car the later number is more desirable my current Civic is a 73 plate which means it was registered between 1st Sep 2023 and the 28th Feb 2024, do they not signify the year on your reg plates? It used to change just once a year, which meant not many new cars were sold in the months coming up to the new number change, so they evened it out to twice a year. I hope that explains it.

I'm not sure, maybe ask the dealer if they know the name of the ship it will be arriving on.

The sticker updates every year (usually) -- new cars get 2 years registration. Then you just renew the registration sticker every year. I don't think US plates are actually random; they count up. That is, by looking at a plate you can generally discern the year or so of the car. If you see an old car with a newer plate number, you know the car came into the state - like the owner moved in with the car.

Yes, they count up in some type of order, sometimes Until they have to switch letters, etc. But if you have an old plate that is no longer in good enough shape to read you can get the same plate number with a brand new plate.

My Prelude is due to be delivered to me in Belgium at the end of August via the port of Zeebrugge, and I've done some research on shipping options. I think the two possible RoRo vessels are either:
- BRANDS HATCH, which departed from Japan on June 8th and arriving in Bristol on July 20th, then in Zeebrugge on July 22nd.
- MORNING LENA, which departed from Japan on June 22nd and arriving in Southampton on August 9th and in Zeebrugge on August 11th.

My new ETA at my dealer in North England is now 18th August so it looks like the Morning Lena is the one that my Blue one is on.
This is now like when I bought my GR Yaris 5 years ago watching every move the ships made. Still have that car and will be a nice little friend to the Prelude.

In Ohio, you get only one year (or even less!) on a new car registration. All auto registrations expire on the birthdate of the owner (so your driver’s license and plates expire at the same time)… but that means that when you register a new car with new plates (rather than just transferring the plates of a car you are trading in), you get a pro-rated charge for the number of months until your next birthday… until you are just a couple of months away and then they add that couple of months on to the one year charge, and then you get plates good until your NEXT birthday.

Yes, it seems that our cars that are to be delivered in August-which by the way, if I'm not mistaken, are all Racing Blue—are together on the same boat.

The two members who took delivery of their car end of june/early July (nicki91 in France, and passfeller in Germany) both ordered black Preludes.

In fact, as I learned from AI, Honda ships production batches of the same color together on the same vessel.

And, after meticulously tracking the schedules of several vehicles carriers over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed that the shipping companies’ crews adhere very strictly to the scheduled arrival dates (at worst, give or take a few hours).

Just got back from a week next to Portsmouth (Hayling Island) and if I had being there at the docking time Yes, I would be sitting there with my flask and cheese sandwiches waiting to take photo's.
