US Tariff Impact on MSRP??

Too bad our Prelude's are manufactured in Japan, and were subject to the 15% Tariff here in the US...
If built in America, the MSRP would have been more around $37,000 from what I've read...

I'm delighted that my Prelude was built in Japan.

It seems to be mainly American reviewers who are saying that the new Prelude is over-priced at 40,000 US dollars. In the UK it costs around 41,500 GB pounds, which (at today's exchange rate) is 55,500 US dollars!

Being built in Japan is worth the extra money. But I’m really concerned about my avocados being over ripe because there aren’t enough pickers.

Prediction: there will be an Acura Integra Coupe, built in Ohio; probably a Type S variant.

There really isn't much difference in price here in the UK between the top Civic Advance and the Prelude. It's a couple of thousand pounds; that's the problem. In the US, the Civic is made there, so it has no tariffs, hence the large difference in price between the Prelude and the Civic, which I feel is why the reviews are mostly hostile towards the Prelude.

Yes, I guess that makes the Prelude a 'harder sell' in the US, where it will inevitably be compared to the (much cheaper and seemingly similar) home-built Civic.

And, of course the USA - indeed, any country - is entitled to impose tariffs on itself if it chooses to do so!
