What happens when you give the new Honda Prelude a Civic Type R drivetrain? Two builders brought their answers to the 2026 SEMA Show. According to Motor1’s report by Brian Potter, Hasport and throtl have each replaced the Prelude’s 200-horsepower hybrid system with the Civic Type R’s 315-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and six-speed manual.

Hasport built its Club Racer with time attack in mind, using suspension tuning inspired by the Integra Type S TCX race car and a custom Borla exhaust. You’ll find it in Honda’s HRC booth. Throtl went the street-car route, fitting Type R bumpers, a carbon-fiber hood, triple exhaust tips, and red Alcantara inside.

These are custom builds, and Honda hasn’t announced a production Prelude Type R. But it’s pretty cool to see someone bring the idea to life.
