We took the Prelude on a 3275 mile trip to Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and Utah!!
Pluses and minuses to follow in another thread, but just wanted to say, this car is a ROCK STAR when it comes to a 12 day vacation!!

That is a beautiful part of the country. Definitely bucket list. The Prelude seems like it is an excellent extended road trip car. Great MPG, fun to drive, comfortable and great storage. Looking forward to hearing more about your trip!

A spare tire would be incredibly reassuring on trips like that, wouldn't it? Do you also carry a tire repair kit with sealant—or some other temporary fix—on board?

I agree about a spare tire, but I'm sure it's not included with our Preludes because of cost and weight...(Was the same with my previous rides, a Corvette and SSR).
So didn't had to use it this trip, but I do have Honda's emergency inflator and sealant in the rear driver side storage compartment area..

Unfortunately many if not most cars lack a spare or temporary tire. For insurance I bring a tire plug or patch kit in-addition to whatever kit comes with the car.

Which type of flat kit does the Prelude come with? Do you have to remove the Schrader valve with the Honda kit?

I found the tire repair kits supplied by different car companies vary. Some are much easier to use than others. Some are harder to use. Some "fix-a-flat" kits supplied by car companies require removing the Schrader valve from the valve stem before injecting the tire sealant. That would be undesirable for me. Imagine trying to remove that tiny valve in the dark on the side of the road. Or trying to re-install the tiny valve in the dark, cold, or rain. Or worse yet, loosing it in the process.

Thankfully there are flat repair kits available that are much easier to use. I found this kit by Slime is the by far the easiest to use in emergencies. I have used this kit and it works as advertised. Highly recommended. You do-not have to remove the Schrader valve prior to injecting the sealant. The process could not be any easier to use. You just attach the hose and flip the switch to open the sealant valve turn ON the pump. No mess at all. You are all done in about 10 Minutes. And the kit has replaceable sealant canisters. Best of all the kit is compact and does not take up much space. The kits are also not very expensive. I think less than $50. It is well worth the insurance.

Having replaceable tire sealant canisters is a great feature. You can replace the sealant after using it. And more importantly you can replace the sealant if it solidifies from age. I found out the hard way when I got a nail in my 911. I went to use the sealant and it was solidified. Since that I bought this kit and have one in most of my cars. I do check the sealant to make sure it is still good.
