Prelude selling prices

What did you pay?

I suspect prices for the Prelude will drop more now that dealers have had some in inventory for more than 60 days. I have been seeing about $2K off msrp on new Preludes for a while. Has anyone done better?

I did $40,499 for my Boost Blue, out the door price (Car and dealer fee include...I bought out of state so paid my sales tax separately back home).
I bought a separate 8 year, $0 deductable Honda Care extended warranty online from Saccucci Honda for only $1098...the dealer I bought the car from wanted $4200, then came down to $1900, but wouldn't match Saccucci's price.
Dealer had it on their showroom for 60 days near the end of the month...I offered $40,300 OTD and they came back at $40,499.

Thanks for the pricing datapoint. I have bought a few cars out of state. The trip there and back is part of the adventure! Good info on where to buy a Honda backed extended warranty. How many miles does your 8-year, $0/ded warranty cover? Who was the contact at Saccucci Honda?

it covers 100,000 miles!!! There are all types of coverage terms available...NOTE, from what I understand, the price of the contract goes up if your car is over 8,000 miles..

The good thing is factory backed warranties are available through online dealers for discounted prices.

I always have been on the fence about extended warranties. Things are different today. Labor and parts prices are constantly going up at a rate that is higher than inflation. It seems like every minor repair at the dealer is over $1K. It is a Honda and repairs are unlikely but having peace of mind is nice for anyone who plans on keeping their car longterm. For $1098 in today’s dollars I feel it is worth peace of mind for 8 years/100K miles and $0/ded.

I agree...i wanted something for the next 8 years that I didn't have to worry about major repairs on, especially with the new technology used on the Prelude. Granted, there's the routine maintenance that will still be out of pocket.
Signing up was pretty easy once you select your policy...you get a confirmation back on the purchase, and then within a week they emailed me the documents (since this is Honda Care, and they're a Honda dealership, they add the warranty info onto your VIN)

Went for one too, in Canada it's called Honda Plus extended warranty.
The one I took is for 10 years/160,000km.

Looks like our American cousins pay a LOT less for their Preludes. I paid £42,535 for mine, as Moonlit white was a £700 extra-cost option; that's around $55,000 US, so I don't think there should be any complaints about the price, as it's not Honda's fault Mr Trump has added around $7,000 to the price of the Prelude with his tariffs in the US, as for Canada I'm not sure what the price there compared to the UK is.

Just shows you how ripped off we are here in the UK, and people in North America still moan about the price of the Prelude; they should try paying European prices, then they might have a point.

Reviewers here in the US overwhelmingly feel the Prelude is over priced compared to other available cars. Mostly because it shares the same drivetrain as the much less expensive Civic Hybrid. Reviewers want more power for the $12K+ or so difference. The much more powerful Civic Type R is only $3K more than a Prelude.

I don’t think the UK gets the GR86/BRZ anymore. How much is a Nissan Z or Miata in the UK?

North America... Not so, nobody moan in Canada...
In the US for sure, the Civic doesn't have tariff as it is build in North America, but the Prelude sure does as it is build in Japan...
So comparing both on their prices isn't exactly fair...

Then there is the adaptive dampers and the Brembo brakes the Prelude has from the Type-R, there is no way it could be sold for anything like the cost of the Civic there, here in the UK the price difference is a couple of thousand pounds the top Civic is £39 800, the prelude is £41,500, we call the Miata MX5, here it's a lot cheaper than the Prelude at around £30,000 so 12 grand less. Still, the cars are not really comparable. The Prelude is a much more practical car. I am surprised they didn't put more powerful electric motors in the Prelude, though it would have been nice. The Type-R, when it was on sale here (it's now discontinued), was considerably more expensive than the Prelude; I think it was getting on for £51,000.

Honda using more powerful electric motors than the Civic probably would have helped with some the negative reviews.

Dealer prep fees are regulated by each state. What state did you buy in and how much was the dealer fee?

Not much chance of that here in the UK, we pay in pounds what you pay in dollars, I can't believe some people in the States have had theirs 6 months, very few people here have them, I finally get mine on tuesday 4th a nice surprise is it's 4 weeks earlier than I thought, I'm expecting them to be rarer than hens teeth here in England which should help with the resale value down the line.

FYI: I like visor.vin for car searches in the US (the link is for Preludes). They are not paid by dealers for placement, lots of filter options that are consistent with Prelude features/options, easy link to the dealers website, and market data.

Both CarEdge and VisorVin are great resources for car shopping. I have also used ISeeCars before.
