Hey all,
I just picked up my prelude before Christmas, and Im lovin it! Its currently the only one in town as the white one we got is still in the showroom, and we arent sure which other dealers on the island actually got them.

Ive been a honda tech now for north of 20 years and this is probably the longest I have waited with a pre-order for a vehicle, but also the only car Ive been excited about at the same time. Dont get me wrong the type Rs are lovely, but they just arent for me.

Anywho, nice to meet yall!!!

Congrats on the new ride and I think a lot of us understand what you’re saying for sure.

A report was released and it says that there haven’t been a whole lot of sales, but I think they’ll pick up. Dealerships aren’t helping with markups, that much we know.

Can’t wait to see more of your car. Super glad these cars are a thing and I know we all really hope they do well.

Its a strange thing, in Canada the only way for a dealer to mark the car up is sell it used, I was talking to a friend who is high up in the Honda US side and apparently the rules south of the 49th arent the same due to state laws etc and dealer contracts, but if a dealer were to try that here I have seen it result in those dealers no longer being able to participate in "rare vehicle" sales or if they saw any they'd be near the last dealer to get one.

We didnt see that as much with the CRZ when it was released as it was a total bust for what could've been a really cool car had they just used a different platform, but the first return of the R was marked with a lot of hype so much so that Honda Canada wasnt allowing people to be on more than 1 wait list, but they also watched carefully at what they were selling for. I get that some dealers do this to expand their profit. I can say from my side of the coin working for them even I find that to be shady business practice.

Yeah, it's a total racket. At one point (supposedly) Ford told certain dealerships that they would face repercussions if they didn't stop with the insane mark-ups but I doubt much really came of it. Some people are a little jealous of Canada's arrangement, then there are a lot of people who wish consumers could purchase directly from the manufacturers.

Hopefully the madness will slow down and cool cars will get the chance they deserve.

Congratulations on the car! Glad to have you aboard. I hope more owners start showing up.... any links you can post to our site to help us grow it would be much appreciated!
