    Acceleration

Hah! Yeah, it is 'accurate' to about +- 1 second accuracy.

    Acceleration

That is a nice setup. I've seen people post YouTube videos of their 0-60 mph and use a stop-watch as a timer - always they are way, way off. I've counted the video frames (usually YouTube is 30 fps, but each video shows the rate in the 'info') and commented on the video w/ the actual 0-60 mph...

Note: Nearly all modern cars pipe in (aka amplify) the engine sounds. If drivers could hear the engine, without amplification, drivers would be complaining about the car's sound-proofing. The manufacturers are in a pickle - quiet car -> no engine noise -> amplify engine.

    Prelude oil and filter change

Maybe the engine is only damaged by >10,000 ppm and 100 ppm is insignificant? What if the 100+ ppm exist but are so small as to do no harm? (Maybe you don't trust Honda to be honest about the first oil change interval; but you do trust the oil analysis company saying X ppm is trouble?)

    Prelude oil and filter change

It shows right up on the main info panel. Counts down from 15%, 10%, 5%, now. It is much more sophisticated than just mileage. To me, it is a bit obtrusive - like how the 'low fuel' warning shows up and you need to 'click off it' to see the normal info.

Seems many people ding the Prelude for missing a sunroof, power seats and a usable back seat. Those three omissions are all huge positives for me. Sunroof/Moonroof: From the outside the double-bubble roof is drop dead gorgeous. A black cutout of glass and rubber destroys that My 6'5" buddy...

    Prelude oil and filter change

Has anybody had their maintenance minder go off? We know it doesn’t go at 500 nor 1,000 mi - maybe it will go at 6,000 mi? I’ve ~4,000 mi and will have 6,000 in early July (drive from OR to San Diego and back). When does the minder go off on a CTR?

    Prelude oil and filter change

Follow the maintenance minder. I guarantee you that you don’t know more than the Honda engineers that designed that system over the last 20 years. You can find Internet opinions for every value - 3,000 miles, every X months, 5,000 miles, etc. Heck, plenty of people saying 0w-20 oil is wrong...

    A-Pillar Sensors?

Nor mine and I’m US-based too.

    Prelude oil and filter change

I thought the factory oil was specially formulated for initial engine operation? I trust Honda’s ‘maintenance minder’ with all oil warnings and don’t believe Honda would sacrifice long-term reliability by falsely hiding the need for an early oil change. My CR-Z would trigger about every...

    First Week and First Impressions

In practice I find that the estimated mpg shown on the instrument panel is higher than the actual mpg by 1-2 mpg (US). I run the tank way, way down between fuel ups - well past the ‘0 miles remain’ warning so that error can matter. Silly me… 🤓

Great review. A Prelude is one eclectic car, misunderstood by nearly all, but perfect in so many ways. I too am addicted to ‘regen paddling’ (one pedal driving, almost). So much so that when I drive my wife’s Acura I find myself uselessly flicking the paddles!

    Dashboard Noise Problem

I had that exact rattle too - from the plastic dome behind the rearview mirror. First day and I’m like “I paid for Japanese quality and this is what I get” (my Japanese wife was in the passenger seat. 😂). I fixed it by pushing the dome about until it seated in a slightly different position.

S-plus - Is it really 'fake'

An annoying drone or not, a boost button that kept the engine at maximum revs located on the steering wheel (where the later CR-Z models had for battery output) would be great fun.

    Front License Plate Mount

If you are in a state that requires a front license plate, did you install the frame yourself or did your dealer? If you did it yourself, are the front dimples backed up with something that the screw can actually hold on to? Is the mount secure? (I had my car shipped from out-of-state thus no...
