Old People love the new Honda Prelude

According to motor1.com, the revived Honda Prelude is off to a surprisingly strong start in Japan despite online skepticism about its lack of a manual gearbox and its similarity to the Civic Coupe. In its first month on sale, Honda expected about 300 orders but received around 2,400, exceeding the target eightfold. Demand has been so strong that some dealers have temporarily paused new orders while production ramps up. Interestingly, most buyers are in their 50s and 60s, with white (63%), gray (16%), black (11%), and red (10%) being the most popular colors.

Well, I fit that demographic…

Is the boost blue not available in Japan? The statistics they give add up to 100%, but they don’t list blue (and 63% white seem VERY high, but I know nothing about Japanese car tastes… maybe no one there would drive a blue one and they really love white…).

My Prelude is black and black and red both seem to be harder to find around here. (Of the 8 Honda dealers within an hour’s drive, I have only seen three black ones available/coming (and that includes mine!) this entire year. (I am still looking at the ones in this area for a friend who wants ONLY a red one… and I originally wanted red but now am glad I didn’t hold out for one).

EDITED TO ADD: According to both ChatGPT and Gemini, the boost blue color is, indeed, not available in Japan. They only have the other four colors.

In Canada only the black, white and red are available.
